Provides general advice, including housing, benefits and debt.
Also carries out home visits to housebound people in the Bethnal Green area.
Legal Advice Service
Pro-bono volunteers from City law firms offer evening Legal
Advice sessions.
Older People's Project
Provides social support and activities for people over
60 living in the local area, particularly (but not exclusively) those who are isolated or housebound. Meeting four days a week, the 'lunch club plus' service offers activities such as Keep Fit
sessions, Computer Club, arts and crafts, outings and parties. Accessible transport to the centre can be arranged. The Project also suppoerts an independent Pensioners Action Group.

Boitok ('regular meeting of people' in Bengali)
Boitok is also part of the Older People's Project. It is aimed at Bangladeshi elders living in the local community
and meets weekly for lunch and stimulating and culturally appropriate activities.

The award-winning day care service is open 7 days a week with stimulating activities on offer. This is housed on our satellite
site in the Shadwell area of Tower Hamlets.

LinkAge
Plus aims to join up services for all people over 50. Voluntary and community organisations are working with Tower Hamlets
council to develop services across the borough. Sonali Gardens is the LinkAge Plus Centre for the South West of the borough.
No referral is needed for the services or activities provided and we can support you with accessing local services (e.g. pension
advice, health). If you would like to know more or to get involved, please give us a ring or drop in.
Shebadan Project (domiciliary care)
Shebedan,
meaning 'care-giving' in Bengali, meets the diverse needs of Asian, mainly Bangladeshi, users in the community by
providing personal care services such as washing, bathing, dressing, cleaning, shopping. It supports users in taking control
of their lives.

Short Term & Flexible Breaks Project for Carers
The project provides short term and flexible break services to carers within the Bangladeshi and other Asian communities
in Tower Hamlets. Carers are able to access respite that meets their personal and family needs by the provision of Day Centre
'placements' or domiciliary care for the care for person. St. Hilda’s also runs monthly Carers Support Group
called Fursoth (meaning 'take rest' in Bengali), which is a platform to share and receive information, while socialising
with other carers.
Community Volunteer Project
There has been a long history of volunteering in St Hilda's
and volunteers play a key role in the life here. As St Hilda's provides a wide range of services to the local community,
there are many different potential volunteer opportunities. These include working within the following projects:

Bondhon ('togetherness' in Bengali)
Bondhon
supports Bangladeshi women who are socially isolated and experiencing mental health issues through group sessions at
St Hilda’s and other venues in Tower Hamlets, and also through home visits.

Boundary Women's Group
The Boundary Women's Project works aims to encourage
local women to realise their potential, especially those experiencing social exclusion or minority ethnic women facing language
barriers. A varied programme of regular activities ranges from ESOL (English language) classes, Keep Fit sessions, IT sessions,
to a Women's Forum discussion group. The project is hoping to develop a social enterprise making crafts. There is also
an outreach service and one-to-one support.
Under 5s Project
The free creche provides places for children aged 2 to 5, whose
parents attend other activities in St. Hilda's, such as English language or fitness classes. There are also
weekly parent and child play sessions.
Boys Youth Project
Provides a wide range of educational and recreational activities
for boys and young men aged between 13 to 19 years old. Activities include workshops, discussions, CV & job preparation,
indoor / outdoor sports and school holiday projects.
Girls Play Project
Provides play activities in a safe and friendly environment for
girls aged between 13 to 19. Activities include indoor / outdoor sports, creative workshops, regular outings and trips.
Surjamuki ('sunflower' in Bengali)
The
group provides informal social education for young people with disabilities and support to empower them to take control of
their lives. Activities include creative workshops, indoor / outdoor sports and regular outings.
St Hilda's Community Memories Archive
Our comunity Memories Project was set up
following St Hilda's 120th anniversary celebrations, and was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. Although funding has
ceased, it remains a permanent resource for those interested in local history and can be found online.
